The Jonas Brothers are a popular American boy band. The band has gained recent popularity from the children's television network, The Disney Channel. The band consists of three brothers from Wyckoff, New Jersey: Paul Kevin Jonas II, Joseph Adam Jonas and Nicholas Jerry Jonas. The band has released four albums: It's About Time, Jonas Brothers, A Little Bit Longer, and Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The group was nominated for the Best New Artist award in 2008 at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. Thus far the group has sold over eight million albums.
The Jonas Brothers recently got into the acting field with Season 2 of the popular Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana. Soon after, the brothers collaborated on a 3D concert film with Miley Cyrus where they were the opening act for Miley Cyrus' tour.
Recently, they stared on the reality show Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream that documented their lives while on tour. The Jonas Brothers are also well known for their wholesome, "family-friendly" image. The three brothers are well known as committed Evangelical Christians. Their father was an Assembly of God pastor and they were home schooled by their mother. In order to signify there vow to abstain from premarital sex they all wear a purity ring on their left-hand ring finger. The brothers have described the rings as a symbol to their promise to God to stay pure until they are married. It is reported that the three Brothers also abstain from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
The band originally started out as a solo project of Nick Jonas. At the age of seven, Nick started performing on Broadway. He acted in several plays and while performing in the Beauty and the Beast in 2002, he wrote a song with his father. While Nick was working on his solo project, Joe followed by starting his Broadway carrier. Soon the brothers started to work together by writing songs. When Daylight/Columbia Records heard the song "Please Be Mine" that was written and performed by the Jonas Brothers they three were signed as a group act.
